The Nursing Department of PKLI aims to provide world class proficient nurses dealing with the patients from OPD to each unit especially for Kidney and Liver Transplant. From the process of selection to placement in the area, our nurses are processed from different phases until they are fully trained to provide specialized care to our patients. These nurses form an integral part of our dedicated team, backed by clinical and information technologies. Their roles have been re-engineered to assume a higher range of clinical responsibilities.

At PKLI, the professional model integrates nursing practice and the nurses exemplify care through the collaborative and exemplary professional. Our Nursing strives to provide quality care to our patients and with their holistic care they have won the heart of million patients.

Pharmaceutical Services

Pharmacy Department is providing State of the art Pharmaceutical Services 24/7 in Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute & Research Center with Qualified team comprising of Well-trained Registered Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, and assistants.

Pharmacy Department is working on modern Pharmaceutical Practices, based on Patient Care and provides services to all areas of the hospital requiring medicines or involved in medication management.

The pharmacy department is also developed Aseptic sterile preparation area according to USP chapter 797 and 800 standards and will be functional in near future to provide the Sterile Pharmaceutical Compounding services like TPN, IV admixtures and Chemotherapeutical, etc.)

Pharmaceutical Services are delivered through a variety of teams that are responsible for various aspects of the medication management pathway. Pharmacy Department is following the Standard operating procedures of JCI, ACCP, and PHC.

Our pharmacists visit wards and departments to review and discuss patient’s medications, doses, side effects, and any allergies that patients might have. They also provide advice and support to doctors, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team about medications to optimize patient care. Our pharmacists also counsel patients on their medications and answer any questions or concerns that might arise throughout the patients stay.

CSSD

Infection Control

Infection prevention and control (IPC) is a scientific approach and practical solution designed to prevent harm caused by infection to patients and health workers. IPC occupies a unique position in the field of patient safety and quality universal health coverage since it is relevant to health workers and patients at every single health-care encounter. Its vision is that “No person should be harmed by any preventable infection”. Its service aims to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infection to visitors, patients, and staff.

The department is responsible for the formulation of Infection Control Policies and Guidelines, and its implementations at all levels. The department conducts an audit and regular surveillance of the environment for best practice in the prevention of infections associated with any area of health care. Teaching and training about infections and its prevention are regularly carried in the hospital as well as other health care centers of Punjab. The staff participate in academic conferences and presents papers, posters, conducts workshops, and seminars.

Physiotherapy

The department of Physiotherapy continues to pursue a path towards excellence in achieving the mind and health fitness of the patients. Our physical therapists have the necessary training to meet the total range of patient care responsibilities involved in neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory, sports-related problems, chronic pain, therapeutic exercises, gait, and electrotherapy. The dedicated team provides direct patient care to persons who have disorders of mechanical, physiological, developmental impairments, functional limitations, whether caused by injury or disease and ensures faster recovery in a highly conducive environment.

Psychology

PKLI has excellent quality and well managed mental health care clinic, for the prevention of mental disorders and promotion of mental health through action on the social determinants of health. PKLI provides treatment to people suffering from mental illnesses like depression, anxiety, bipolar, psychosis, addictions and transplant psychiatry through ethical practice, confidentiality and evidence-based medicine. Mental health care is vital for patients suffering from chronic illnesses like kidney and liver diseases.

Clinical Nutrition

The Food and Nutrition department of PKLI&RC offers nutrition therapy in the best possible ways by our experienced Clinical Dietitians. New and scientific improved diets are being provided to the patients in reducing complications associated with chronic kidney diseases, liver dysfunction, weight loss, diabetes, hypertension, and certain chronic conditions, etc. Our dietitians use evidence-based nutrition practice guidelines to counsel patients on lifestyle changes and self-management skills. The department ensures to implement nutrition interventions that meet patient needs and establishes a plan for positive change in their long term well-being.
