Overview
Dr Haroon graduated from Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore honours in 1982. Have been a consultant in teaching hospitals for over 25 years and a Professor of Medicine in various teaching Hospitals in Punjab since 2000. Last Government appointment was Head of the Department of Medicine at KEMC. With over 30 years of teaching experience have published 13 books on various subjects of medicine with 5 published by Momentum Press New York, USA. Have also published 25 research articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. Went to the UK for higher training in 1988 and passed MRCP. Awarded FRCP from London in 2000. Was invited to London to deliver a lecture at the Royal College of Physicians on my work on computer-based teaching modules. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award for “The Most Distinguished Iqbalian for Professional Excellence” by the Chief Minister of Punjab in December 2008. He worked as a consultant in King Fahad Armed forces hospital, Jeddah for seven years and joined PKLI&RC as a consultant in Internal Medicine in February 2018 and is now also Head of the Emergency Department.

- Cardiology Training in echocardiography and Doppler (for 6 years) leading to research publications on chronic rheumatic endocarditis. Worked in Whittington Hospital in cardiology and later at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, Exeter, while in the UK in 1998.
- Gastroenterology: Training in diseases of the liver and endoscopy in Pakistan and in the UK at Coleraine Hospital, Coleraine, Northern Ireland for 1 year as registrar. Developed expertise in diagnostic upper GI endoscopy. Published research in endoscopy.
- Chest Medicine: Worked at Dewsbury General Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary, UK and learnt chest medicine and bronchoscopy.
- Diabetes: Have been training physicians and GPs in modern concepts and management of Diabetes and its complications. Have delivered over 100 lectures in various cities of Punjab on various aspects of Diabetes.
- Neurology: Worked as locum registrar in neurology at Whitechapel Hospital, London.
