Overview
Dr. Saleem Sharieff received his degree from Dow University of Health Sciences in 1992. After completing 3 years residency training in internal medicine at Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) and passing FCPS he did another three-year fellowship in adult cardiology from Karachi’s National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD). Following this, he spent a year working as a cardiologist at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital before relocating to Canada. He did another fellowship in general internal medicine from University of Ottawa and passed FRCPC. Thereafter, he completed additional fellowship in critical care medicine from University of Western Ontario in London, Canada and passed second FRCPC in critical care medicine. He was trained in trauma, TEE, Left ventricular assisted device, Impala, ECMO and neuro-critical care.
He has been employed as an intensivist and cardiologist at Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, since 2004. He also holds an assistant professorship at McMaster University Hospital, Canada which is one of the top ten medical university in the world. Over the years, he has held many positions including Head of Department, Vice President of Hospital, Regional Director for stroke program in South-West Ontario Canada, and Hospital Representative at LHIN, which provides health care planning for Ontario’s Ministry of Health, Canada. In addition, he has published multiple scientific publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals, and he has a wealth of teaching and research expertise
