Overview
Dr. Muhammad Tariq Baig is a kidney transplant nephrologist and a fellow of the American Society of Transplantation (AST), as well as a holder of a nephrology fellowship (FCPS) from the College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS). In addition, he completed a general nephrology fellowship at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (USA), where he gained expertise in glomerular diseases, home-hemodialysis, continuous renal replacement therapies (CRRT), peritoneal dialysis, transplant, and onco-nephrology. Dr. Baig also completed a transplant nephrology fellowship at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (USA), where he gained experience in managing various aspects of kidney and pancreas transplant, including pre-transplant evaluation, re-evaluation of listed patients, living donor candidates, and transplant rejections. His areas of particular interest include combined liver-kidney and pancreas transplant, transplantation in highly sensitized patients, and primary hyperoxaluria. Dr. Baig delineated guidelines for combined liver-kidney transplant, which led to the first successful combined liver-kidney transplant at PKLI and established a dedicated clinic for patients with primary hyperoxaluria. He has also presented posters at numerous national and international conferences.
