Mr. Mujib ur Rehman Shami is the chief editor of 'Daily Pakistan,' a national Urdu newspaper with widespread circulation. He assumed the editorship of Daily Pakistan in 1999. Commencing his illustrious journalism career at the daily newspaper 'Hurriyat,' Mr. Shami has made significant contributions to the field over five decades.
In 1993, he was honored with the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan. More recently, in 2023, Mr. Shami was bestowed with the Hilal-e-Imtiaz. An eminent columnist, his column 'Jalsa-e-Aam' is simultaneously published in Daily Pakistan and Dunya. He has also written for 'Nawa-e-Waqt' and 'Jang.' His writing style is characterized by eloquence, clarity and the ability to convey complex ideas in a relatable manner.
Currently, Mr. Shami appears regularly on Dunya TV in the current-affair analysis program 'Nuqta-e-Nazar,' maintaining his association with Dunya TV for over a decade.
Throughout his journey, Mr. Shami has actively engaged with professional newspaper organizations. He served as the President of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) and was elected its Secretary General multiple times. Additionally, he held the position of President in the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS), the sole representative body of publishers in Pakistan. Mr. Shami was also elected as President of the South Asia Free Media Association (SAFMA) and the Pakistan Chapter.
